What is a slip-treatment?
Our slip-treatment is an advanced proprietary product used in the process of creating a sophisticated microscopic tread design on the surface that increases the Coefficient of Friction. Because it is not a coating there is nothing to come off.
Our slip-treatment comes with a 2-year written warranty on floors and is guaranteed for the life of your tub and shower.
It can be used on almost all hard surfaces, such as Ceramic Tile, Cement, Concrete, Pavers, Brick, VCT flooring, Fiberglass, Porcelain Tubs, Showers and Boats.
Is it harder to clean after being treated?
Absolutely not.
What is the down-time?
This depends on the square footage to be treated. Safety is our goal, not speed. With businesses, we typically come in after closing time and are gone before the following morning. This means no interruption for your business.
How soon can I walk on it?
Surfaces may be used or walked on immediately after completion.
Will there be slight “loss of gloss” to my surfaces?
In most cases there is very little difference in appearance but it depends on the surface. Safety should be the main priority, not cosmetic appeal.
As the old adage goes: "Glossy means slippery".
What about stains and dirty grout?
You will find that our treatment will clean your surfaces and leave your grout looking better than ever before.
Do I still need to use bath mats?
The simple answer is no.
(a) House Keeping will no longer need to clean mats.
* This saves you money in hours lost cleaning them day in and day out.
(b) Management will save money by not having to replace mats every few years.
How expensive is it?
Actually it’s relatively “inexpensive” considering the benefits of risk management.
We also provide any consultation your cleaning staff needs.
What is COF or SCOF?
(Static) Coefficient of Friction is the ratio of the weight of an object being moved along a surface and the force that maintains contact between the object and the surface. It is also a number expressing the amount of friction effect.
The coefficient of friction (m) is calculated as the ratio between friction force or horizontal (F) to normal force or vertical force (Fn), or mathematically expressed as: m = F/Fn.
ADA and OSHA Requirements: “The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends that walking surfaces have a static coefficient of friction of 0.5. A research project sponsored by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board) conducted tests with persons with disabilities and concluded that a higher coefficient of friction was needed by such persons. A static coefficient of friction of 0.6 is recommended for accessible routes and 0.8 for ramps.”
(The second leading cause of death in the home is slip and fall accidents)
National Safety Council: “Slip and Fall accidents are the single most common reason for emergency room visits”
“Compensation & medical costs associated with employee slip/fall accidents is approximately $70 billion annually”
Industrial Safety & Occupational Health Markets (5th edition) “85% of worker's compensation claims are attributed to employees slipping on slick floors”
National Floor Safety Institute
“The average Slip & Fall claim nationwide cost to litigate a lawsuit has reached $100,000
“Over 60% of nursing home residents will fall each year”
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) “Slip & Fall fraud is up 57%. They come into an area and hit several retailers, grocers, or other businesses with sophisticated schemes and professional execution. They hope to collect a big payout and move on before anyone realizes what’s going on.”
Bureau of Labor Statistics: The average cost of a slip and fall injury is $28,000, including medical bills, physical therapy, and missed wages.
• Slips and falls are the number two cause of accident death and disability, following behind automobile accidents.
• Slips and falls lead to 104 million lost workdays per year in North America - that's 4,000 lifetimes!
• 70% of slips and falls occur on level ground.
• Trip and fall injuries cost the US $36 billion each year.
• Slip and fall accidents kill more workers than all other on-the-job fatalities combined.
• 55% of those over 40 have suffered a debilitating slip and fall accident during their lifetimes.
• Workplace safety can be quite expensive. Unintentional injuries alone cost more than $146.6 billion per year for medical and insurance costs, workers' compensation, survivor benefits, lost wages, damaged equipment and materials, production delays, other workers' time losses, selection and training costs for replacement workers, and accident reporting.
When an OSHA inspection reveals that an employer has violated one of its standards, it issues a citation. The citation carries a penalty of up to $70,000 for each offense. If a death occurs because of a willful violation, the employer may be both fined and imprisoned.
